All workshops are held in ENGLISH
On two dates we will form the first pieces on the potter's wheel together in a relaxed atmosphere. Each workshop is made up of 9 hours in total. Two consecutive days of 4 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday with an additional 2 hours, approximately 2-3 weeks after the workshop, for glazing. The date and time for this session we will be discussed and decided together as a group.
Day 1: In the first session (approximately 4 hours), I will show you how to center a piece of clay, opening it, pulling the walls and giving shape to the mass on the potter's wheel. Afterwards, I will guide you on how to make a small bowl, cup and mug. Most participants throw between 1-2 pieces during each workshop, which you will take home once the course has been completed.
Day 2: In the second session (approximately 3 hours), you will be shown to trim your leather hard pieces created from the day before. You will learn how to refine the shape of your vessels and form a foot ring using various trimming tools.
Your pieces will need to dry for approximately 2 weeks. Afterwards, I will put them through their first firing, known as "bisque firing" at 950°C. On an agreed day we will meet to glaze your pieces with a choice of available glazes (approximately 1-2 hours). Finally, your vessels will go through a second firing, the so called "glaze firing" at 1240°C. All items will be ready for pick up around 2-3 weeks after this process (you will be informed via email when your pieces will be available for pick up).
Cancellations:
- Up to 30 days before the first class starts, fees are 100% refundable or transferable to another person (please inform me via email in advance).
- Up to 14 days before the first class starts, fees are 50% refundable.
- Cancellations less the 14 days from the first class are not refundable.
- Cancellations must be submitted via email.
- Missed classes will not be reimbursed or repeated.
