INTRO TO POTTERY WHEEL THROWING WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS

All workshops are held in ENGLISH and translated into German with the help of my assistant

New Workshop Dates will be announced mid September, 2024

Have you wanted to make ceramic vessels on the Potter's Wheel?

Working on the potter's wheel is a unique experience. The art of pottery is both relaxing and therapeutic. It requires patience, practice, concentration and coordination of all senses. You literally immerse yourself into the process of creating your piece. While turning clay, your mind and body are in natural synergy, wrapped around your creative ambitions and goals. A lot of focus is required while making pottery, therefore outside influences do not affect your work so you dedicate your time and attention to your creation. Throwing clay on the potter's wheel allows you to escape the worries of life and shift your focus toward your creation.

At my studio, I provide a welcoming space for you to explore your creativity. You will be introduced to the basic process of fashioning clay on the potter's wheel into something utilitarian.

No previous experience is required. This course is perfect for beginners. My workshops offer you the opportunity to be introduced to the first steps of creating your own ceramic pieces on the turning wheel. You will learn how to center the clay, opening it up, pull up the walls, shaping, trimming and finally glazing your own pieces.

Overview of Workshop:
Workshops take place over two consecutive days, Saturday (4 hours) and Sunday (3 hours). A third day, 2-3 weeks after the second session, will be chosen together to meet and glaze your pieces (approximately 2 hours). A choice of available food safe glazes will be available for you to use. Espresso, tea, juices and water is available for everyone. All materials and firing costs are included in the course fee.
What you can make:
Most participants make and take home 1-2 vessels by the end of each workshop.
Number of Participants:
Workshops will be held in a small group of maximum four participants. Each person works on their own potter's wheel under my close guidance.
How to prepare for the Workshop:
Please wear clothes that can get dirty. Clay residue will end up on your clothes, which can be cleaned in the washing machine. Short nails make working with clay easier at the beginning. Aprons and towels will be available for you to use.
Picking up your pieces:
Approximately 4-6 weeks after the last session, you will be contacted via email to arrange for pick up of your vessels.
